For this assignment, we were asked to write an op-ed expressing a viewpoint on a current issue. I chose to focus on the EDM community, discussing the changes it has undergone due to external influences and how gatekeeping when used thoughtfully, can help preserve the culture’s core values.

This piece challenged me to refine my persuasive writing skills, helping me to present a clear argument while incorporating research and personal insights. It also enhanced my ability to articulate a strong, nuanced point of view on a community I’m passionate about.

For this assignment, we were asked to write a feature story for our client White Springs Ranch. We had to follow best practices for feature writing, incorporate at least one quote, and use proper citations.

This project helped me practice combining long-form journalism with digital marketing strategies, enhancing both my storytelling and promotional skills.

This feature story was written for a journalism assignment where I covered a real event on campus and in the local Pullman community. The story focused on a group of Washington State University students who worked together to bring live music back to the Palouse area.

For the piece, I interviewed key figures involved in organizing the events and supporting the music scene, including local business owners and student advocates. The story also highlighted how businesses in Pullman collaborated with the students to host live events, further connecting the student body with the local community.

This assignment allowed me to refine my reporting, interviewing, and storytelling skills, capturing the heart of a student-led movement that’s making a real impact on campus and beyond.

The purpose of this assignment was to write a press release centered on Milestone Decisions and the Direct Support Professional (DSP) workforce crisis. I focused on conveying key information about the organization's involvement in Operation Advocacy 2024, which aims to raise awareness about the DSP shortage and advocate for better wages and funding.

This exercise helped develop my ability to craft clear, concise press materials that effectively communicate an urgent issue to both the media and legislators.
